EMDR Therapy in the DTC

Discover the Power of EMDR

Do you need more than just talk in the therapy office?

Ever feel as if you won some sort of demonic lottery where all the prizes are awful?  You’ve done a ton of work on yourself, meditation, read all the self-help books you can, tried to “just be more positive” yet if you hear someone say that to you one more time you’ll want to punch them in the face?  It’s not that you don’t want to move past old wounds, it’s more like the past won’t let go of you.  Time sometimes does not wash away all pain.

When we have not fully healed from the past, it affects us in the present.  Toxic people, events, or accidents can set us on a path that can feel inescapable. What would life look like for you if things continue exactly as they are?

Sometimes you need the right tool for the right job to get you the results you want. Therapy is no different, you need the right method to get the right healing.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and it’s one therapy I am extremely passionate about because it can really work well when used appropriately.

EMDR is a tool for healing, and it can greatly accelerate that change when more traditional talk therapies can take years to get results.

It starts with targeting a limiting belief you have that spawned from a bad life event that altered your being for the worse and then helps the brain reprogram itself in a way that releases that stuck energy while implanting a positive belief that you choose to try to replace it with.

It’s Not That You Can’t Let Go of Your Past, It’s  Your Past That Won’t Let Go of You!

While it can sound like a miracle, it’s actually based on extensive scientific tests on how our right and left sides of the brain work and how trauma affects our brain and nervous system.

What can EMDR do for you?

Evidence shows that EMDR can be effective in treating many of the mental health problems people deal with including:

  • anxiety, including test taking anxiety and other stresses
  • athletic performance enhancement
  • depression
  • PTSD
  • childhood abuse
  • sexual abuse
  • grief
  • phobias
  • changing limiting beliefs

Because EMDR can release intense emotions and potent memories, a well-trained therapist is a vital component of successful EMDR therapy.

When you’ve healed, it often feels like the volume has been turned down from those pains of your past, and you will have a greater sense of control over your own destiny.
